The work, it seems, will never end

On Halloween night, there was a shooting in San Francisco in the middle of Castro's annual festivities. Nine people were wounded directly from the shots fired, and another person was injured in the chaos of the crowd. Today, the mayor of San Francisco, Gavin Newsom, stated that, although he doesn't want to have to shut down the festivities for next year, it may just have to happen. On the website of The Advocate, it was written that about 30 people from age 15-25 were involved in the initial confrontation that lead to the shooting, and while they questioned a suspect on Tuesday night, they haven't made an arrest yet. San Francisco County sheriff Michael Hennessey said that more than 100 sheriff's deputies were posted at entries to the festivities to confiscate alcohol and weapons, but expecting to collect every handgun or some other small weapon beneath every person's costume or other clothing or within their belongings would have been "impractical" with such a large crowd. Let's just hope it doesn't happen again, eh?
